Dear World Community Grid Members,
Welcome to the Drug Search for Leishmaniasis (DSFL) project!

Leishmaniasis is one of the most neglected tropical diseases in the world.  Infections have been increasing with over two million people affected last year.  To date, there are no available vaccines to prevent the disease, in spite of multiple research efforts.

We, the researchers at PECET (Program for the Study and Control of Tropical Diseases) at the University of Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia, are running DSFL on World Community Grid to search for chemical compounds which may lead to new drugs for treating this disease.

We are really looking forward to seeing the results of this project, and sharing the insights we get from it with you.  As the project moves forward, we will be certain to keep you updated about our findings and publications in this forum.

We really appreciate that you are willing to donate your idle computing time to this ambitious project, which is pioneered in Latin America.  If you have any question about the project please do not hesitate to contact us through the forum page.

Thank you from the research team and the PECET Lab.
