• Taxonomical determination, description and scientific illustration of Digenea trematodes and other plathelminthes such as Temnocephalida and Monogenea
• Taxonomical determination and description of hematophagous hirudinae, characterization of their bacterial flora and sensitivity of these to antibiotics
• Evaluation of the presence of trematodes in animal breeding sites, zoos and vivariums.

The PECET harbors the only collection of trematodes and vector mollusks in Colombia, in addition to the collection of sandflies, culicines, and the collection of isolated Leishmania strains in Colombia and the SPF vivarium.
